The campaign for early legislative elections in March will begin this Sunday, when half of the leaders of the parties with parliamentary representation in the north, including socialist Pedro Nuno Santos and Social Democrat Luis Montenegro, will pass through the Porto constituency.
Social Democratic Party general secretary Pedro Nuno Santos has just one item on his agenda for the first official day of the campaign: lunch at the Matosinhos sports and congress center in the Porto area.
PSD President Luis Montenegro, representing the Democratic Alliance (AD, uniting the Social Democrats, CDS-PP and PPM), planned three actions, starting the day with contacts with the population in Mirandela, in the Bragança district.
Luis Montenegro will then be some fifteen kilometers away from socialist Pedro Nuno Santos, at a lunchtime rally in Maia, a district of Porto, which will end the day in Vila Real.
Nuno Melo, president of the CDS-PP, was excluded from the first three days of the campaign after contracting the Covid-19 virus.
Also in the north will be Chega President Andre Ventura, who has planned a rally in the afternoon on Rua de Santa Catarina in Porto and a rally in Lusada in the evening.
The general secretary of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, will also be in Porto, where he will hold a rally of the HDZ (coalition uniting communists and PEV) at the Teatro Rivoli.
BE coordinator Mariana Mortagua begins the first day of the campaign in Marinha Grande, Leiria district, with a meeting with National Health Service users and ends in Viseu with a lunchtime rally.
To the south will be the President of the Liberal Initiative, Rui Rocha, who will focus his actions on the issue of education between Setúbal and Évora. In the morning, Rocha will hold a meeting with the parent association Escola Básica de Azeitão, followed by lunch in Palmela on the same topic.
The liberal day ends in Évora with a visit to the Alentejo Science and Technology Park.
The only two deputies, Ines Sousa Real (PAN) and Rui Tavares (Livre), begin campaigning in the capital.
The PAN leader planned “Kaominhada” and community contacts in the Park of Nations.
A Livre representative opens a “billboard” [cartaz] in Lisbon and heads to a party meeting to launch the campaign, at which the historian and sole deputy will speak at the Talia Theater.
