“We listened to the teachers and made a commitment: not a full restoration in one year, because that was impossible and it would only be irresponsible to say something like that, but a restoration that would make sense over the course of a four-year Legislature.” “, he decreed.
Andre Ventura spoke at the end of the lunch/rally in Aveiro, the second of more than two dozen planned before the end of the legislative election campaign on March 10.
President Chegi noted that his party’s proposal has goals and does not have “conditions, hypocrisy and side effects.”
“Our commitment is serious and must be fulfilled. In four years of work in the legislative body, we will fully restore our seniority and fulfill this promise,” he assured.
President Chegi also criticized the PS Secretary General for voting within the state budget against the SDP proposal to completely replace teachers’ working hours.
“It is unbearable to hear Pedro Nuno Santos say that he is going to do now what he did not do as minister. We heard Pedro Nuno Santos say that he was in favor of restoring the working hours of teachers, a few days later the state budget was discussed, and one of the proposals was precisely the restoration of the working hours of teachers, and he voted against it,” he criticized.
Speaking at the first rally of the day, at which he spoke at around 15:00, Andre Ventura said that the Socialist leader “wants to convince that he will be on the side of the teachers, when he was in the government and in the parliamentary group that caused more harm to the teachers”, considering it “huge hypocrisy.”

When voting on the state budget for this year, the PS deputy presented a voting declaration in which he stated that he agreed “in general with the spirit of the SDP proposal” to restore the length of service of teachers, but voted against the proposal “subject to observance of voting discipline” and for the understanding that , that “the method for resetting the calculation of teachers’ working hours should be determined through negotiation and consultation.”
