Ventura hopes to win and says the situation is not comparable to Vox

Chegi President André Ventura confirmed this Wednesday that he wants to win Sunday’s legislative elections and considers the situation “incomparable” to that of Vox, which lost deputies in the last elections in Spain.

“What we really want is for Chegi to win the election,” he said.

Speaking to reporters at the end of a street rally in Beja, Andre Ventura, who will have Vox leader Santiago Abascal at his side this Wednesday, said Spain’s July elections “didn’t go very well” for the far-right party, but considered that “the situation incomparable.”

“What I have seen throughout the country is that we will get a result far superior to what Vox had in Spain,” he noted, indicating that he is convinced that the Portuguese will resist calls for a useful vote from the PS and AD. because “They realized that this was truly a time of change.”

Andre Ventura admitted that he was committed to “destroying this two-party system of useful votes that has not brought any change in Portugal” and helping the right gain a majority in parliament.

In the July Spanish legislative elections, VOX remained the third political force, but lost 19 deputies compared to 2019, leaving 33.

The Vox leader will join Chegi’s campaign this Wednesday at a dinner/rally in Olhão.

“Tonight will be a special evening with a distinguished international figure,” said Andre Ventura before drinking ginginha at a café in the center of Beja. The toast was made to “believe in victory.”

President Chegui called Santiago Abascal “a great friend and fellow traveler.”

“Santiago Abascal is a figure of great prestige in Portugal, but with particular affection for the south of the country. I hope that he will give us some help here,” he said, recalling that in July he was in Madrid to monitor on election night. .

President Chega also stated that Chega would “completely dry up the PKP in the Alentejo” and “remain ahead of the AD throughout the south,” believing that “these will be the first territories in which Chega will begin to assert itself as a party.” the majority of those who voted.”

Andre Ventura also said that his party “must stay ahead of the AD, since the AD has not yet given guarantees that it will not support the PS government,” unlike Chegi.

Leader Chegi also criticized the entry into the AD campaign of former PSD President Rui Rio, recalling that in the last legislative elections, during his mandate, the PS won with an absolute majority of votes.

“I don’t understand how Montenegro considered Rui Rio for an election campaign if his whole campaign was to eliminate “rioism” from the PSD,” he criticized, noting that “perhaps he wants to create the same opposition that and Rui Rio. did what was careless, it was a support for PS and a support for PS.”

Ventura also said that the former leader of the Social Democrats “means everything that the PSD supported the PS” and said that there would never be a toast with him.

“Maybe this is a sign that they will do the same thing in the next legislature,” he said.

Andre Ventura also said that Chega’s campaign will end with a concert by Quim Barreiros in Lisbon’s Plaza de Municipio after the Chiado riots.

The goal, he said, is to “throw a big closing party.”

“I think it’s necessary and will get us to the victory we want,” he added, but refused to “celebrate before Sunday.”

On election night, he said he expected “missiles that will never run out.”

More than 10.8 million Portuguese are called to vote on Sunday to elect 230 members of the Assembly of the Republic.

18 political forces, 15 parties and three coalitions are competing in these elections.
