The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts worsening atmospheric conditions from today, which will continue over the next 48 hours, with rough seas, wind, snowfall and falling temperatures.
According to the IPMA, the sea warning for Faro, Beja, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Coimbra and Aveiro is at red level from 18:00 on Saturday to 6:00 on Sunday, with waves of seven to eight meters reaching maximum height 14 meters. .
Today and until 18:00 Saturday, the maritime areas of Faro, Beja, Setubal, Lisbon, Leiria, Coimbra and Aveiro are already under an orange warning, which returns to this level from 6:00 to 18:00 on Sunday and to the yellow level after this hour and until 6 p.m. Monday morning.
Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga are under an orange warning for disturbances at sea until 3pm on Sunday.
The rough sea warning in the areas of Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo is reduced to yellow level from 15:00 Sunday until 6:00 Monday.
The red warning predicts waves of significant height from seven to eight meters, which could reach a maximum height of 14 meters, the orange warning predicts waves of significant height from five to seven meters, the maximum height of which could reach 11 meters. and the yellow level refers to waves between four and five meters high.
The IPMA also placed the areas of Vila Real, Braga and Viana do Castelo on the red level due to snowfall from midnight to 9am on Saturday. From 21:00 this Friday until 9:00 Sunday, the IPMA is also forecasting heavy snowfall and has placed the areas of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda and Castelo Branco under an orange warning, and Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra under a yellow warning.
