A large-scale operation carried out by the PSP of Porto led this Wednesday to the arrest of nine suspected drug traffickers. The searches were carried out mainly in the area of Dr. Nuno Pinheiro Torres, as well as in Pastelheira Velha. Police action focused mainly on holiday homes. The network, dismantled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, earned about 50 thousand euros a day. Some of the suspects (five men and four women) have family relationships with each other and are due to be heard starting this Thursday at the Porto Criminal Investigation Court.
A total of 17 searches were carried out, starting early in the morning. More than eight kilograms of drugs were found in houses where drugs were hidden and then sold in small quantities to street dealers: about six kilograms of heroin; more than a kilogram of cocaine; as well as hashish and others. Also seized were more than 40 thousand euros from illegal traffic, several cars, as well as food and cutting tools, as well as packaging material.
The group, now disbanded by PSP, was consolidated in Pinheiro Torres for many years and was responsible for much of the street trafficking. It was one of the most influential human trafficking organizations in Porto. As of this Wednesday evening, PSP was still counting the number of seizures.
