The search for a tourist couple on the north coast of Madeira island who went missing on Saturday was called off at around 5pm today and will be suspended locally on Friday due to bad weather, PSP said.

This Friday the operation was suspended due to bad weather on the northern coast of the island and the sea search was even suspended, and on Friday resources will only be deployed to the ground if any evidence emerges.
The tourists, a man and a woman of French nationality aged 58 and 56, were on holiday in Madeira and stayed at a hotel in the parish of São Vicente.
PSP said the alert was filed on Saturday afternoon by the couple’s daughter, who decided to relax in the house that day while her parents decided to go for a walk nearby.
The tourists disappeared without a trace.
The search operation is coordinated by the Regional Command of the Madeira Public Security Police and also involves the Judicial Police (PJ), the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Madeira Operational Command, the Regional Civil Protection Service, SANAS and the Maritime Service. Power.
The prosecutor is investigating a possible criminal situation, although there are no suspicions yet.
