Almost a thousand accidents without loss of life since the start of Operation Safety Easter

The PSP has made 404 arrests across the country and recorded nearly a thousand accidents without loss of life since Operation Easter Security began on March 22, police said this Friday.

In a statement, the PSP emphasized that from March 22 to this Thursday, 996 accidents were recorded in its area of ​​​​responsibility, resulting in 284 minor injuries and 13 serious injuries, without deaths.

As part of the traffic check, 166 people were arrested for traffic crimes, including 87 for drunk driving and 79 for not having a license to drive a vehicle.

Across the country, 16,822 drivers were examined and 55,287 vehicles were monitored using radars, of which 592 were driving over the speed limit, “which corresponds to more than 16% of the total number of recorded offenses.”

In its area of ​​influence, the PSP also recorded 3,633 violations, including 61 cases of drunk driving, 361 due to the lack of mandatory periodic technical inspection, 119 due to lack of civil liability insurance, 90 due to the use of a cell phone while driving. and 41 for failure to wear a seat belt.

The PSP noted that another 54 people were arrested for drug trafficking, and more than 5,140 individual doses were seized.

Police also detained 40 citizens for property crimes, namely fraud, theft and robbery, and 11 for possession of prohibited weapons, seizing 12 firearms and 16 bladed weapons.

More than 395 kilograms of explosives were also seized during the two operations.

In the note, PSP once again urges citizens to drive safely by adapting their driving to weather conditions and road conditions.

Also remember that speeding is one of the leading causes of road accidents.
