Road authorities have launched a campaign to protect seat belts and child seats

PSP, GNR and the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) are this Friday launching a road safety campaign on the use of seat belts and child seats included in the 2024 National Inspection Plan (PNF).

The campaign, called “Cinto-me vivo,” which ends on April 11, aims to “warn drivers and passengers of the importance of using safety devices such as seat belts correctly at all times,” according to a joint statement from the organizations. and child seats.”

The “Cinto-me Vivo” campaign will include awareness-raising activities carried out by ANSR on the mainland and the services of the regional administrations of the Azores and Madeira, as well as inspection operations carried out with special attention by the PSP and GNR. on roads and approaches with heavy traffic flow, the purpose of which is to “promote a reduction in the risk of accidents and the adoption of safer driver behavior in relation to the correct use of safety devices.”

Awareness-raising activities will be carried out simultaneously with inspection operations in the following locations: Friday, at 8:00 am in Praça do Vitória, April 8, at 16:00 at the Santarém toll plaza on the A1 motorway, April. 9th, at 09:00 at the D. Diniz roundabout, in Leiria, April 10 at 07:00 on IC2 – km 244.5, in Albergaria a Velha, Aveiro, and on April 11 at 10:00 on the Road Nelas, after the commercial enterprise of Mercadona, in Viseu.

PSP, GNR and ANSR urge drivers to always use an approved child seat, correctly installed and adapted to the child’s height and weight, and recommend the use of seat belts in all seats in the car and on all routes, even over short distances. distances and, in the case of motorcycles, a helmet of an approved model, correctly adjusted and tightened.

The action, which starts this Friday, is the fourth of 12 information and inspection campaigns planned for this year as part of the 2024 PNF, with a further eight campaigns, one per month, to inform action and monitoring by the end of the year.

The campaigns included in the national inspection plans have been carried out by the PSP, ANSR and GNR annually since 2020, with topics determined based on the European guidelines set for each year.

PNF 2023 has prioritized the following topics: speed, alcohol, safety accessories and mobile phones.
