IL wants to cancel the “More Housing” measures

In opposition to the PS package, the Liberal Initiative called on the current government to cancel the More Housing program and “take advantage of the proposals” the party has put forward in parliament.

During the election campaign this Tuesday in Arroios, Lisbon, where the liberals called for the privatization of empty buildings, party president Rui Rocha recalled that “both PSD and Chega voted in favor” of the proposals in the last legislature. , which have now been reintroduced.

Therefore, the IL leader hopes that “having approved or made viable so recently, they will not fall into hypocrisy now that we have the opportunity to approve these measures.”

The party wants to repeal measures such as changes to the local residence regime, state pre-emption in private house sales and other rules left in place by the socialist government that it considers “harmful” in the housing sector.

On the other hand, the Liberals want to reduce the IRS on rent, eliminate the BMI for own homes as well as stamp duty, and reduce VAT in the construction sector from 23% to 6%, as well as make it easier to access construction records for government buildings.

Regarding the government program that will be presented this Wednesday in the Assembly of the Republic, Rui Rocha hopes to see a “policy aimed at housing” and stressed that the Liberal Initiative “will definitely demand and challenge what is and what is not” – the party promises to offer.
