All areas of mainland Portugal, with the exception of Viana do Castelo and the Madeira archipelago, will be at a very high risk of exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UV) this Thursday, according to the IPMA.
The Viana do Castelo area is at high risk of exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
On Friday the risk will remain very high on the mainland and the Madeira archipelago.
As for the Azores archipelago, IPMA forecasts very high levels for this Thursday for the island of São Miguel, high for Faial and Flores and moderate for Terceira.
The UV exposure scale has five levels, between extreme and low risk.
In high-risk areas, the IPMA recommends avoiding sun exposure as much as possible.
For very high risk areas, the IPMA advises using UV-blocking sunglasses, a hat, T-shirt, umbrella, sunscreen and avoiding sun exposure for children.
