Livre wants transparency in access to documents and legislative regulation

This Monday, Livret defended the need for the Commission on Access to Administrative Documents to issue binding opinions and considered it necessary to increase transparency in terms of knowledge of the legislative influence of the government.

These were some of the positions taken by Livre MP Paulo Muacho after he was received by Justice Minister Rita Iudice as part of the government’s parliamentary hearing with the parties on taking anti-corruption measures within 60 days.

Speaking to reporters, Paulo Muacho said the government had shown openness to some of Livre’s proposals.

Among other measures, he spoke in favor of strengthening the means to combat corruption, namely through the creation of specialized departments to combat economic and financial crime and corruption, as well as “increasing transparency in the work of the government itself.”

“There is a need for greater transparency in the government’s legislative activities with respect to the organizations it meets with that have influence over the legislative process,” he said.

Regarding the regulation of “lobbying,” MP Livre added that the issue “was relatively cross-cutting between different political forces.”
