A few minutes later, on the nearby Rua do Bonfim street, 10-15 men of the same nationality were attacked by 10-15 people with sticks and a gun in the house where they were staying. staying overnight. Three were injured. The cases are under the jurisdiction of the PSP criminal investigation department.
At 3 a.m., a 26-year-old Portuguese man was arrested on Rua de Santo Ildefonso with a retractable baton and a balaclava (a hat that covers the face) with traces of blood. He was part of a group that, minutes earlier, attacked a man in Praça da Batalha. While he was in custody, five other men who were wanted at the police station were identified as suspects in other attacks. The detainee is serving a 5-year suspended sentence for several attacks in recent years.
Before these three incidents, on Thursday at 22:00 two Algerians, aged 35 and 36, were intercepted by PSP police in Trindade after displaying two kitchen knives on the metro traveling from Gaya to Porto. They also had 12 scratch cards and 430 euros in their backpack. There were constant attacks and robberies in the center of Porto. PSP has strengthened its presence.
