Coordinator Andre Pestana said the strike was justified by the fact that “educational professionals continue to fail to implement a fair and transparent assessment system that maintains quotas, as well as many classes that students missed last year to take assessment tests, which falls a huge burden on educators.” “
At a press conference in Coimbra, the union leader stressed that the strike “is a way of putting pressure on the government to pay attention to what is happening in public schools”, given that a discussion needs to be held with teachers to determine whether they are doing so meaning of assessment tests.
