The Union of All Education Professionals (Stop) announced this Monday a national strike against the assessment process and work related to assessment tests, which will begin on Tuesday.
Coordinator Andre Pestana said the strike was justified by the fact that “educational professionals continue to fail to implement a fair and transparent assessment system that maintains quotas, as well as many classes that students missed last year to take assessment tests, which falls a huge burden on educators.” “
At a press conference in Coimbra, the union leader stressed that the strike “is a way of putting pressure on the government to pay attention to what is happening in public schools”, given that a discussion needs to be held with teachers to determine whether they are doing so meaning of assessment tests.
