PS alone cannot make BE’s decision on PSP and GNR risk subsidies.

This Thursday, the PS failed alone, with the abstention of the SDP, the Liberal Initiative and the SDS-PP, a resolution of the Left Bloc recommending that the government equate the subsidization of the risk of PSP and GNR with the subsidy of the PS.

The Left Bloc’s resolution, which was already discussed on Wednesday in the parliamentary committee on constitutional issues, received the support of Chegi, PKP, Livre and PAN.

At this meeting of the Constitutional Affairs Committee, Left Bloc MP Joana Mortagua said that the previous PS government’s decision to provide an addition to the Judicial Police, which was not similarly extended to the PSP and GNR, “was perceived as an injustice.” And that the initiative of his board in no way contradicted the powers of the head of the SDP/CDS-NP in terms of trade union negotiations.

On the PSD side, António Rodríguez said that the BE resolution represents “the contours of improvisation and duplication”, since the issue is currently under negotiation between the security force platforms and the government.

PS MP Pedro Vaz pointed out the differences between the PSP, GNR and PJ, warning that “they do not all carry out the same missions in the state.” And on the other hand, he argued that “equal pay between GNR and PSP does not seem to be recommended because the careers are different.”

Today’s vote also saw the rejection of a Left Bloc resolution to revise technical careers and create a single reintegration specialist career within the General Directorate of Reintegration and the Prison Service. This diploma was opposed by the SDP, PS and SDS-PP, Livre abstained and voted for Chega, PCP, Livre, PAN, as well as BE.

In general, the Left Bloc managed to approve a resolution to revise the status of justice officials, improve their careers and open the recruitment procedure. Besides BE, Chega, PCP, Livre and PAN voted in favour, while PSD, PS, Liberal Initiative and CDS-PP chose to abstain.

The resolution of the PCP on the same topic of revising the status of judicial officials was generally rejected by the PSD, PS, Liberal Initiative and CDS-PP, with the support of Chega, Bloc de Esquerda, Livre and PAN.
