PSD and PS block Bloc resolution on risk subsidy in PSP and GNR. Bloco de Esquerda recommends that the government equate the PSP and GNR risk subsidies with the PJ subsidies.

The SDP spoke out this Wednesday against the resolution of the Left Bloc, which recommends that the government equate the risk premium for PSP and GNR with the risk premium for PS, and PS deviated from the content of the diploma.

These positions were presented at a meeting of the Constitutional Affairs Committee by deputies António Rodríguez (NSD) and Pedro Vaz (PS) regarding the Bloc de Esquerda resolution, which was presented by Joana Mortagua and which only had the explicit support of PCP deputy António Filipe.

Joana Mortagua noted that the previous PS government’s decision to provide an addition to the Judicial Police, which was not similarly extended to the PSP and GNR, “was perceived as an injustice.” António Filipe later noted that if the resolution had been discussed before the elections, “it would have been approved unanimously.”

“Now that the PSD is in government, they are already trying to create conditions for the dissatisfaction of demands, violating the expectations created before the elections,” he criticized.

For the PSD side, António Rodríguez said that the BE resolution “represents signs of improvisation and redundancy”, since the issue is currently under negotiation between the security force platforms and the government.

“There is no point in moving forward with what is already on the table,” the Social Democratic deputy emphasized. This position was contested by the Left Bloc. “It is absurd to say that our proposal is ill-timed given the ongoing public debate. Our resolution in no way contradicts the scope of government intervention,” objected Joana Mortagua.

On the part of the PS, Pedro Vas, like the PSD, noted that the current government is negotiating with the platform of the security forces and that it is important to “understand the conclusion of these negotiations.”

Pedro Vaz pointed out the differences between the PSP, GNR and PJ, cautioning that “they do not all carry out the same missions in the state.” And on the other hand, he argued that “equal pay between GNR and PSP does not seem to be recommended because the careers are different.”

Chega MP Patricia Carvalho blamed the Bloc de Esquerda for controversy on this issue concerning the security forces.

“BE previously abstained when Chega presented a draft on this matter. BE blames the security forces for everything bad that happens in society, and its resolution does not take into account the Armed Forces,” he noted.

Chega then, through Cristina Rodríguez, expressed his agreement with the resolutions of the Bloc de Esquerda and the PCP to revise the Statute of Justice Officials and enhance their careers. However, these two diplomas were also blocked by the SDP and the PS.

On the part of the PSD, Pedro Neves de Souza noted that if BE claims that the problem is 20 years old, then it bears responsibility for not solving it during the reign of the “Gheringons” governments.

“These resolutions are characterized by political opportunism and injustice towards the government, which negotiates with the unions,” he said. Isabel Moreira (PS) emphasized the ongoing negotiation process with the government, “despite the validity of some points present in the BE and PCP resolutions.”
