This promulgation was announced through an entry on the official website of the President of the Republic on the Internet, which states that the head of state unveiled “two government diplomas,” one of which is a “diploma changing the criteria for awarding the CSI.” , eliminating the relevance of children’s income.”

According to the same note, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also unveiled this Thursday “a diploma introducing the first amendment to Decree-Law No. 72/2023 of August 23, which approves the legal regime of the land cadastre and establishes the National Cadastral System.” Information system and cadastral charter.”

The Council of Ministers approved a week ago, on May 9, several decrees-laws that take measures related to the DSP, one of which provides for the “elimination of children’s income as a criterion and exclusion factor in the assignment” of this benefit, intended to combat the elderly. poverty.

According to a statement made at the PSD/CDS-PP government meeting, the current number of CSI beneficiaries “is around 140 thousand people” and among the approved measures is “a first, extraordinary increase in the basic cost of CSI from 50 euros to 600 euros.” euro”, since June of this year.

On the other hand, the executive branch has decided to “increase to 100%, that is, to fully reimburse the purchase of reimbursable prescription drugs by retirees and retirees receiving CSI benefits,” a measure that, according to the above statement, “will take effect in a month after completion of ongoing consultations with the authorities of the autonomous regions.”
