The Service for Foreigners and Border Guards (SEF) has provided temporary protection to 57,626 Ukrainian citizens and foreigners residing in Ukraine since the start of the war in Ukraine, a statement said on Monday.
Of the 57,626 protective equipment provided, according to the SEF, 33,696 were women, 23,930 were men and 14,082 were minors.
The municipalities with the most temporary protections are “Lisbon (12,330), Cascais (3,626), Porto (2,932), Sintra (1,950) and Albufeira (1,426)”.
According to the SEF, there are two categories of minors: accompanied and unaccompanied.
According to the same source, if the child is “accompanied by a parent or confirmed legal guardian, no request for intervention by any other person is required.”
If the minor is unaccompanied, but in the presence of another “person other than his or her parents or a proven legal representative”, without “current or imminent” danger, the Prosecutor’s Office (MP) is notified.
If the child is unaccompanied, but “in the presence of anyone other than a parent or proven legal guardian” in “current or imminent danger”, the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) is contacted.
If the minor is not accompanied, but left alone, “the child is considered to be in current or imminent danger and the CPJC in the area of competence is immediately contacted in order to take urgent measures and provide adequate assistance.”
Since the start of the war, “737 minors who appeared in the presence of anyone other than their parent or proven legal representative, without real or imminent danger, and 15 unaccompanied minors and/or in the presence of persons other than their parents,” the report said. SEF.
