The patron of the Internet, who died at 15, will become the new saint of the Church

Pope Francis approved on Thursday another miracle attributed to the young Italian Blessed Carlo Acutis that will allow him to be canonized. The first miracle recognized by the Vatican and leading to beatification occurred in Brazil, when a 7-year-old boy with serious pancreatic problems was cured after his grandfather touched the relics of Carlo Acutis.

The second miracle happened to a girl from Costa Rica. On July 8, 2022, Liliana’s mother traveled to Assisi and placed a letter next to Acutis’s grave, in which she spoke about the suffering of her daughter, who received a serious head injury after falling from a bicycle.

Doctors said that the girl’s hope of survival is practically zero. But on the same day when the letter was delivered, the hospital reported that the girl was recovering.

“He didn’t fall into the trap. I have seen that many young people, although they appear different, in fact end up becoming like others, chasing what those in power impose on them through the mechanisms of consumption and confusion,” Pope Francis wrote in his post-synodal apostolic address “Christus”. Vivit (Christ is alive).

The Portuguese side also expresses joy at Carlo Acutis’s connection with WYD. “We thank God for the announcement of the canonization of the patron of WYD in Lisbon,” reacted D. Américo Aguiar, who is in Rome and prayed at the tomb of Acutis in Assisi.
