PAN’s campaign for the European elections will include about a dozen events in the Lisbon area, will include visits to the Azores and Madeira and just one visit to the interior of the country.
According to the party’s published itinerary, the People-Animais-Natureza will pass through 11 of the country’s 18 constituencies during the election campaign, which begins next week.
The party, whose list is headed by Pedro Fidalgo Márquez, will begin its journey in the Santarem region on the morning of May 26 with participation in the National Firefighters Day ceremony in the city of Entroncamento.
Then, in the afternoon of the same day, the PAN delegation leaves for the first of several election campaigns in the capital, visiting Miraduro de Santa Catarina.
On May 27, the official launch day of the campaign, Pedro Fidalgo Márquez is in Lisbon and plans to visit the technology company Wind Credible in Amadora and the Instituto Zoofilo Quinta Carbone in Oeiras.
On the third day of the campaign, the delegation heads to the Setúbal region, passing through the port of Sines, which the party says is “unfortunately the entry and exit point for the transport of live animals.”
On May 29, the party heads north and holds a meeting about a circular economy project called E-Tijolo in Braga, which turns cigarette butts into eco-friendly bricks. In the afternoon, the visit passes through the historical center of Viana do Castelo, where the action against Vaca das Cordas takes place, with the “symbolic tearing of the rope from the cows, symbolizing their need for liberation.”
On May 30, the day will take place in Porto, with three events planned in the city center, in Gaia and in Matosinhos, where they will culminate with the Lord Matosinhos Folk Festival.
Before returning to Lisbon, the PAN delegation will visit Aveiro and Coimbra on the 31st.
The weekend of June 1st and 2nd will be marked by action in the capital with visits to Campo Pequeno, Feira do Relogio and the celebration of National Animal Rights Day, which concludes the first week of the campaign.
For the second week, the party’s commitments have not yet been announced, only the cities through which the PAN delegation will travel have been confirmed.
On the 3rd, Pedro Fidalgo Marques will visit Lisbon and Porto, on the 4th, Leiria and Santarém, on June 5, he will visit the Azores and Madeira archipelagos, and on June 6, the PAN representative will visit Faro and Beja. the only action on the Portuguese mainland away from the coast.
The end of the campaign, June 7, will again bring the PAN delegation to the capital of the country.
In the last European elections, in May 2019, the People-Animals-Nature party managed to be elected for the first time, gaining 5.08% of the vote (168,501 ballots).
About a year later, in June 2020, MEP Francisco Guerreiro left the party due to “political differences” with the leadership then led by André Silva.
