The government is preparing a rapid restructuring of the PSP and the State Police, which involves reorganizing the police system across the country to ensure more police officers on the streets, especially in cities, the interior minister said on Wednesday.
At the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees of the Assembly of the Republic, Margarida Blasco told MPs that a needs study was being carried out across the country to move forward a “joint plan for the PSP and the PNP.” .
“There are problems with robberies and assaults and it is important for the population to have police who are visible to everyone and can intervene quickly. We have been working on this for several weeks and are going to create a program of priorities in relation to citizens and in relation to the operational actions of the PSP and PPR,” he explained.
