“The Constitution of the Republic of 1976 is exhausted,” says Andre Ventura.

Chega leader Andre Ventura said this Sunday in Setúbal that the Republic’s current constitution is “exhausted” at the start of parliamentary days dedicated to the constitutional review process that the party intends to launch this September.

“The Constitution of 1976 has been exhausted as a model. It is exhausted in the path to socialism that it proposed, it is exhausted in the economic model it proposes, in the language of large estates and nationalization that continues to inhabit our Constitution. The proposed healthcare model is outdated. And we have all seen how healthcare in Portugal needs a new model,” he said.

For leader Chega, who at the opening of parliamentary days in Setúbal confirmed some of the party’s most controversial proposals, such as life imprisonment and chemical castration of pedophiles, it is necessary that all parties understand that the 1976 Constitution is no longer in line with the Constitution. current reality in many areas that does not meet the needs of the country in terms of economic development, environment, immigration, health care, education and justice.

“Nothing we have today, or most of the world we have today, is the world of the 1976 Constitution. And this should give us the courage to respect the founders of our regime after April 25, to respect the founders of this Constitution, we managed to muster up the courage to present another [Constituição] modern, open and innovative for a country that wants to be modern, open and innovative,” said Andre Ventura.

“Our constitutional model is not a sustainable development model focused on an economy that needs to grow. It remains a Constitution that considers a country of emigration, not immigration, as we have become in recent years. And it continues to be the Constitution, which, of course, because it could not do otherwise, still does not solve common problems today, such as sustainable development, the environment, ecology and the future,” leader Chegi added at the opening of the parliamentary days taking place today and on Monday in the city of Setúbal.

Addressing Chega MPs in a previous note, Andre Ventura said he was concerned about the “waves of violence over the past few days” in the Setúbal district, ensuring that Chega will always be on the side of justice against violence.

“In recent days, we have witnessed unimaginable episodes: in a bar in Setúbal, a man was killed, apparently for defending women who were persecuted and persecuted, and who was stabbed. The same thing happened last week. And yesterday there was a shooting in the Almada Forum (in the city of Almada, as well as in the Setúbal region), with a similar environment and characteristics,” he said.

For Andre Ventura, “we live in a time and a world where speaking the obvious and saying the obvious is often the subject of crime and persecution”, which doesn’t stop Speak Up.

“It is enough to say without problems what the majority of the Portuguese think and what the majority of the Portuguese feel. happened,” he said.

“We have a problem with the gypsy community in Portugal. We must solve it. And next Wednesday, I want to make it clear that I will ask Parliament once again and consistently end the impunity of the Roma community in Portugal. . [presidente da Assembleia da República] Does Augusto Santos Silva like it, don’t like it. What happened in Portugal cannot continue,” he stressed.

For André Ventura, this is a problem that concerns most Portuguese, but which only Chega’s party tries to express.

“While we look away and pretend that nothing is happening, the Portuguese are talking about it everywhere. And we are the only ones who give them a voice and expression, taking on the consequences and risks. Next Wednesday. And, I repeat, the impunity of the gypsy community an end must be put,” the leader Chegi repeated.

Addressing the participants of the parliamentary days in Setúbal, André Ventura thanked the participation of party deputies and the “courage” of several civil society figures who agreed to join Cheg’s initiatives.
