Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho begins an official visit to Sao Tome and Principe on Thursday, where the future SFOR presidency, prospects for cooperation and high-level political dialogue will be outlined to mark the visit.
A statement from the Portuguese Foreign Minister indicated that João Gomes Cravinho will meet with his counterpart Alberto Pereira on Friday.
Meetings are also scheduled with Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada and President of the Republic Carlos Vila Nova.
These meetings, according to the note of the MNE of Portugal, “will allow us to continue the work to strengthen and deepen the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.”
The Portuguese government recalls that it has provided the authorities of Sao Tome with 15 million euros “to promote education, health, food security and to strengthen democracy and the rule of law in the country.”
“The trip will also provide an opportunity to learn about the prospects of Sao Tome in this area, as well as to identify opportunities for cooperation between the two countries at the bilateral, multilateral and Portuguese-speaking levels,” the note says.
During this visit to Sao Tome and Principe, which will succeed Angola next summer as chairman of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), João Gomes Cravinho hopes to “get acquainted with Portuguese cooperation projects, namely in the city of Neves”. , as well as the Portuguese School and the Portuguese Cultural Center in São Tomé.”
The visit runs from Thursday to Saturday.
