This Friday, the government decided to extend the deadline for submitting applications for assistance under the Single Request (UR) until June 21 due to the difficulties faced by farmers in this procedure.
The application deadline ended on June 14, after having already been extended.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has decided to extend the application deadline for PU 2024 without penalty until June 21, the application deadline for the current campaign,” the executive said in a statement.
The decision was made after working meetings with the Institute of Finance for Agriculture and Fisheries (IFAP).
Farmers report difficulties in this procedure and ask the government to extend the deadline.
According to the ministry, overseen by José Manuel Fernandez, difficulties persist, which justifies the extension of the deadline.
However, the Ministry of Agriculture warned that after June 21 it will be impossible to submit applications so as not to violate the payment schedule.
“We must all put our efforts into this final stage of applications before the June 21 deadline. “I commend and thank the commitment and work of all organizations and technical specialists involved in the application collection and submission process,” he said, Minister of Agriculture, mentioned in the same note.
Jose Manuel Fernandez also called on farmers to maintain a “good pace of the process” so that everyone can benefit from this support.
PU is a request for direct payment of assistance which is part of schemes covered under IACS – Integrated Command and Control System.
This request covers direct payments, related support, eco-schemes, rural development, Natura payments, supporting agricultural activities in disadvantaged areas and forestry measures.
