PSD leader Luis Montenegro suggested this Sunday that the Democratic Alliance will be defeated in the European elections. “AD’s goal is to get at least one more vote than any other party. I want to admit that we have not achieved this goal,” he admitted.
“Today’s result gives us a lot of incentive to complete the journey that brought us here,” he said.
Although the election results were more favorable to the PS than to the AD, Montenegro notes that the party received more votes compared to the last two European elections and describes the balance as “positive.”
During his speech, the Social Democrat took the opportunity to highlight everyone who was involved in the European operation, and also thanked the PS and former Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro for all their work.
In the message, Luis Montenegro also assured that AD and the government will support António Costa if the former prime minister becomes a candidate for the post of President of the European Parliament.
