The Viseu court began this Thursday behind closed doors trying four men suspected of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman who was drunk and unable to resist.
The defendants, who at the time were between 17 and 21 years old and who attended a vocational school in Viseu, are accused of co-authoring at least four crimes of sexual assault against a person unable to resist in the early hours of February 12 last year.
According to the prosecution, the victim drank beer and other alcoholic beverages, first in a cafe, and then in a nightclub in the city of Viseu, accompanied by a cousin.
At the disco, he adds, while they were watching a music show, they were approached by four defendants who were “known to both” as vocational school students.
The prosecution alleges that the cousin decided to go home, and the victim remained at the discotheque accompanied by the defendants, having around 6:40 in the morning and at a time when “she remained drunk and did not have all her motor and mental abilities.” abilities.” “They were taken to an apartment where three people lived.
In one of the rooms of the apartment, four men, taking advantage of the lack of reason and drunkenness of the victim, had sexual intercourse with her, even if for a moment she managed to scream for her to stop and that she did not give permission for what they were doing.
All the defendants remained in the room and “watched everyone’s actions,” he adds.
The State Department believes that the four men took advantage of the condition in which the victim was found, lacking “the necessary ability and insight for sexual self-determination” and “unable to resist” sexual acts.
