The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said this Wednesday that the action plan to support the media will include measures of a “very varied nature” to be effective and will be presented in the “coming months.”
Pedro Duarte spoke before the parliamentary committee on culture, communications, youth and sport as part of regulatory hearings.
“We are going to present an action plan (…) to support the media. I think we need this kind of plan,” a government official said in his first speech, implying that we are in a “very tense situation.” stage” of listening to all sector stakeholders.
“Essentially listening to all market agents, from the media itself and its management to journalists through their representatives” and organizations representing a sector of varying nature, be it local or regional, including state-protected media such as RTP and Lusa.
“We have collected a lot of donations and are working on these measures, which will be very diverse,” because it is a plan that “must operate in several areas to be effective,” he stressed.
And “we intend to prepare this action plan in the coming months for discussion and presentation publicly,” he concluded.
