Pedro Nuno Santos says Costa as European Council President is ‘a great pride for Portugal’

Socialist Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos stressed this Thursday that the election of António Costa as President of the European Council is “a huge source of pride for Portugal and the Socialist Party.”

“A great source of pride for Portugal and the Socialist Party. Congratulations, António Costa!” Pedro Nuno Santos emphasized on the X social network, where he shared a congratulatory video with moments of the former Prime Minister speaking with other European leaders or in Europe.

Socialist Party President Carlos Cesar highlighted the “recognition of the political and diplomatic abilities” of António Costa shortly after heads of state announced the election of the previous Portuguese prime minister to the position of President of the European Council.
