The search for three missing people on a ship that docked at Marinha Grande on Wednesday continues for the fifth day by sea and land, according to the Nazaré port captain.
“The search for the three missing persons, coordinated by the Port Captain and the Local Commander of the Nazaré Marine Police, continues on land with units of the Local Command of the Nazaré Marine Police and elements of the SeaWatch project, and at sea on board the Nazaré Rescue Station vessel,” the National Maritime Agency said.
According to the captain of the port of Nazaré, if sea conditions allow, diving operations are planned by a private company at the request of the shipowner in order to determine a plan for refloating and subsequent removal of the vessel.
According to João Severino Lourenço, the dives will be supervised by a team of forensic experts from the Marine Police, although it is not known when they will begin.
The warning to list the fishing vessel Virgem Dolorosa was transmitted to the local command of the Nazaré Marine Police at 4:33 a.m. on Wednesday.
Three crew members died, 11 were rescued and three were missing in Praia da Leirosa, Figueira da Foz.
On Saturday, funerals for the three victims took place in Figueira da Foz and Lavos.
