The petition launched by the Union of Prosecutors (UMP) against the public criticism of the MP will be sent this Monday to the President of the Republic, the Government and the parties with seats in Parliament.
According to a note published by the SMMP, the document, entitled “In Defense of Citizens and Justice,” put forward by Lusa on Friday, has already been signed by more than 820 prosecutors.
Among the signatories are several judge-MPs dealing with media cases, such as João Paulo Centeno and Ricardo Lamas, two of the three prosecutors who led the investigation into the Operation Influencer case, which led to the fall of the previous government led by former Prime Minister António Costa, and was one of the trials in which the MP’s actions attracted the most criticism.
