Four PSP unions leave government meeting without agreement

Four PSP unions left the meeting with the Interior Minister on Tuesday without an agreement, but other union structures continue to meet with Margarida Blasco for about seven hours.

The first union that Margarida Blasco accepted was the National Union of Police Officers (SNOP), followed by the Association of Professional Police Unions (ASPP), the largest union in the PSP, but after about seven hours they are still meeting and negotiating.

The four unions that walked out of the meeting without reaching an agreement were the Independent Police Union, the National Police Union, the Association of Autonomous Police Unions and the Professional Police Union.

The National Union of Professional Chefs and six GNR professional associations also met.

The Minister of the Interior supported the initial proposal to increase the PSP and GNR risk allowance by €300, an amount that will be paid in stages until 2026, increasing the fixed allowance from the current €100 to €400 in addition to maintaining the variable part of 20% of the basic salary.

Under the government’s proposal, the €300 supplement would be paid three times: €200 this year and the remainder at the start of 2025 and 2026, increasing by €50 each year.

In addition to the 300 euro increase, Margarida Blasco also proposes, according to the unions, other measures such as a review of the professional status of the PSP, a change in the 2025 remuneration table and the evaluation regulations, a review of the salary tables and a “green path” for health.
