The President’s Minister said on Thursday that the government will maintain a line of dialogue with various opposition forces in parliament, but will also insist on lowering the IRS to income level 8.
These positions were outlined by António Leitão Amaro at a press conference at the end of the Council of Ministers meeting, after he was confronted with the fact that the Executive’s Great Plan options maintain the goal of reducing the IRS to the 8th income level, a measure that is mainly opposed by left-wing parliamentarians.
António Leitão Amaro noted that at the moment “there is no law in force in any other sense” and that the government sees this line of relaxation as a “legislative objective”.
