NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday that the Alliance is facing a “race against the clock” in providing additional military support to Ukraine to enable Ukrainian forces to counter new Russian offensives.
At a press conference to plan a meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organization defense ministers to be held Tuesday through Wednesday in Brussels, Stoltenberg warned that “nearly a year after the invasion, the President [Vladimir] Putin is not preparing for peace, but for new offensives,” so the allies must “continue to supply Ukraine with what it needs to win and achieve a just and lasting peace.”
Noting that Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov will take part in the U.S.-sponsored contact group meeting on Ukraine and the previous meeting of defense ministers, the NATO Secretary General said that together these pressing needs will be addressed, already anticipating some of them.
