Thomas’ classmate Matthew Crooks, the suspect in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump at a rally on Saturday, said Thomas was the victim of bullying and a very “lonely” boy came forward Reuters.
Jason Hohler said Thomas “always sat alone at lunch” and that he was “excluded.”
“You know how kids are these days. They’ll see someone like that and they’ll attack them because they think it’s funny or something, so that’s the best way to describe it,” the classmate said.
Jason said he didn’t want to imply that this was what prompted the attack at the rally, but that “you never know.”
“He always wore a mask, even after Covid. He wore a mask,” says Thomas’ colleague.
Jason stated that whenever they looked at him, they always thought “something was wrong.” He also said that he thought the shooter was on the fire department, but he wasn’t sure.”
“I don’t think anyone would think of that. It’s crazy,” he concluded.
