Rosa Mota carries the Paris 2024 Olympic flame and dedicates a moment to the Portuguese

Portuguese Olympic champion Rosa Mota dedicated the moment of the transfer of the flame of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games to the Portuguese, which has been traveling through the streets of the French capital since Sunday.

Rosa Mota, 66, who won the marathon gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Games, took part for the third time this Monday in the flame-carrying ceremony she received next to the Eiffel Tower, in a ceremony witnessed by many Portuguese expats.

“This is a moment that speaks volumes to us. For athletes, non-athletes, it is the emotion of carrying the Olympic flame. Of all the Olympic symbols, the flame is what fascinates me the most, and the opportunity to share it with all the Portuguese people. This flame will be unforgettable for me and for those who were here with me,” said the Olympic champion, who also dedicated this moment to all the Portuguese: “I also take this opportunity to dedicate it to our beloved country, in a moment of unity.”

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be held from July 26 to August 11.
