A young man was arrested for trying to sell his two-year-old daughter in a bar for 65 reais (about 12 euros) in Minas Gerais, Brazil, to buy drugs, according to a Brazilian newspaper Time, The 25-year-old man told a customer in the establishment that he could abuse the girl if he paid him the requested amount.
Civil police were called to reports that the young man was mistreating a child and was intoxicated and using drugs. When authorities approached him, he resisted and showed a knife he had in his pants to threaten police, but was eventually apprehended.
According to witnesses, while at the bar, the man threw his daughter’s food on the floor, stepped on her and told her to eat it. At one point, he even threw a lollipop into the street, and the child was almost hit.
The man wanted money to buy crack. While the investigation continues, the girl was placed in the care of her maternal grandmother. The incident happened about two weeks ago.
