Portugal Slips in FIFA Rankings. Find Out Which Team Is Leading

Portugal has dropped from sixth to eighth in the FIFA rankings, in a hierarchy topped by Argentina, while Spain, the new European champions, has risen to third, world football’s governing body said on Thursday.

Having lost to France on penalties in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, Portugal dropped two places and are now just behind the Netherlands, who remain in seventh place.

Ahead of the pack are world champions Argentina, who won the Copa America on Sunday, followed by second-placed France and Spain, who also won their fourth European title on Sunday to move onto the podium, moving up five places in the rankings.

Losing Euro 2024 finalists England moved up from fifth to fourth in exchange for Brazil, who dropped one place to move ahead of Belgium into sixth after dropping three places.

Copa America finalists Colombia moved up three places to enter the top 10, finishing ninth ahead of Italy, who remain in 10th place.

Among the teams coached by the Portuguese, the United Arab Emirates, led by Paulo Bento, retained 69th place, while the Angola team, led by Pedro Gonçalves, rose to 90th place.

Guinea-Bissau, coached by Luis Boa Morte, rose to 114th place, while Kuwait, coached by Rui Bento, rose to 136th place.
