Russian-Portuguese pirate Gaia accused of selling credit card data acquitted

The Sao Joao Novo Court in Porto acquitted a Russian-Portuguese computer hacker on Friday has been living in Vila Nova de Gaia for several years, accused of selling credit card data to more than a thousand people.

Sergey Gusev, 43, has been in custody in Kustojas prison for a year and will be released immediately. He was charged with criminal association, computer sabotage, illegal access and acquisition of cards.

It has been proven that Sergey Gusev was the administrator of the website “Verified Forum”, which was used to sell illegal information, but there is no confirmation of the fact that a crime was committed, since in Portugal there is no legislation punishing the creation of such websites on the “dark web”.

Sergey was part of an international group and became the subject of a joint investigation by the SP and the FBI. A complaint from the aforementioned North American security forces allowed identifying the forum where the suspect managed the stolen data that would later be used in the fraud.
