Sintab has called for two more days of strike action at the Nobre Alimentação plant in Rio Maior, on July 31 and September 11, accusing the company of lacking the will to negotiate the list of demands announced on Monday.
The National Union of Agricultural, Food, Beverage and Tobacco Workers (Sintab) said in a statement that the decision was the result of a strike on June 26 and “aims to denounce the company’s lack of willingness to negotiate on the workers’ list of demands, as well as the mediocre offer presented by a certified company with advanced technology and high food quality standards.”
Advance notice for the 13th strike at the plant since last year was served on the 19th of this month, as well as for the 14th strike, scheduled for September 11, because, according to the union, “the company has not given a worthy response” to the demands of these workers.
The strike picket will take place on Wednesday in front of the Nobre plant in Rio Maior, Santarém district, and will be attended by representatives of the Executive Committee of the National Council of the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers – Intersindical Nacional (CGTP-IN) and the Executive Committee of the Federation of Unions of Food, Beverage, Hotel and Tourism of Portugal (Fesaht).
