An 11-year-old boy suffered multiple injuries after a fall in Sete Lagoas, Cabril parish, Montalegre on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was spending the day with his family in the Peneda-Gerês National Park and the fall occurred while he was swimming in the lagoons.
The people who were there pulled the boy out of the water.
The alarm was raised to authorities at around 4:30 p.m. and the Salto volunteer firefighters were called to help.
After receiving assistance, the victim was stabilised and taken to Braga Hospital, where his injuries were considered serious.
Military personnel from the Emergency Protection and Assistance Unit (UEPS) of the search and rescue post in Montanha do Gerês were also called to the scene.
