Patricia Copta, a woman who disappeared over 30 years ago in Pennsylvania, United States of America, was found living in a nursing home in Puerto Rico. The woman, now 83, disappeared without a trace in 1992, leaving her husband and nephews behind. The authorities thought she was dead.
According to ABC news, Copta kept the past a secret while living in Puerto Rico. Only recently, when she was diagnosed with dementia, did she begin to reveal some of the details of her past life. In 2022, a social worker working from home gathered enough information to contact Ross Township, Pennsylvania authorities about the woman’s whereabouts. DNA analysis confirmed that it was Patricia Copta, who had been missing for over 30 years.
Patricia’s husband, Bob Copta, and sister, Gloria Smith, 78, explained that prior to her disappearance, Patricia Copta roamed parking lots and busy roads in northern Pittsburgh warning people of the end of the world. Prior to this, Kopta was a star student turned model and dance instructor. When he graduated from high school, he worked in finance for a glass company in Pittsburgh and, according to his family, participated in weekly ballroom dances.
Gloria Smith recalled that before her marriage, Patricia Copta often went on vacation with friends in Puerto Rico. “She loved the ocean, the beach, the hot sun,” Smith said. Associated Press cited ABC news. “I came home one night and she was gone,” Bob Kopta said. They were married for 20 years.
