The FBI on Wednesday released new photos of the gun used by Thomas Crooks to kill Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, as well as the backpack and explosives the shooter had in his car during the meeting.
According to New York PostTrump shooter Thomas Crooks split his DPMS DR-15 semi-automatic rifle in two to hide it in a black backpack as he walked through the crowd at the rally.
“Thomas Crookes’ gun is damaged and likely needs to be moved, and his rucksack was found at the scene,” reads the caption to one of the images.
A separate photo shows the gun fully assembled and positioned next to a ruler, indicating that it measures approximately 36 inches from frame to barrel.
The agency also released images of two improvised explosive devices in the trunk of Crooks’ car, with receivers that could be detonated remotely when turned off. The devices had “several design issues,” the same source said.
