The decision of the Supreme Court of Cape Verde on the appeal against the decision to extradite Fernanda Baltasar has already been made public.
The teacher who killed her boyfriend with dry ice is still trying to delay extradition from Cape Verde to Portugal. His appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected on 23 February.
Now Fernanda has filed a new appeal with the Constitutional Court.
The 41-year-old woman killed her boyfriend on Christmas Eve 2016 in Lisbon, spent two years in pre-trial detention and was sentenced to 17 years in prison. But he took advantage of the failure of justice and was released.
When the sentence finally became final, in April 2021, Fernanda Baltazar had already fled Portugal.
The teacher “disappeared” for almost a year and a half, but in the end the judicial police found her in Cape Verde, where she lived peacefully.
An international arrest warrant allowed her to be arrested again. The woman is in a pre-trial detention center pending extradition.
