The man connected the cell phone to the drone to connect to the network and call for help

Casey Ryan and his friend were stuck in the snow in a mountainous area almost 50 kilometers from the nearest city in Oregon, USA. The car was stuck in the snow, and there was no cell service to call for help. In addition, the family was abroad, and no one knew where Casey had gone.

“I said, ‘We need to use our intelligence,'” Ryan said in an interview. Washington Post. The two friends decided to attach a mobile phone to the drone and try to fly high enough until the device could send a distress message.

“I have been doing search and rescue work since 2007. It was by far the most unusual way I’ve ever seen someone ask for help,” said Jason Bowman, search and rescue coordinator at the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

When Ryan was rescued, another driver was located and rescued, who was also stuck in the snow for several days, authorities said.
