The Judicial Police seized 251 kilograms of cocaine hidden on pallets of pineapples inside shipping containers. Four foreign men were arrested during the operation.
The drug, transported in two sea containers, arrived from a Latin American country and entered the national territory through the port of Setubal.
According to PJ’s statement, the drug will later be transported to Spain.
In addition to the drugs, authorities also seized several cell phones, various documents of evidentiary value, and two vehicles, one of which is a commercial vehicle with a specially designed compartment for the concealed transportation of drugs.
Detainees between the ages of 33 and 52 will be brought before the competent judicial authority for the purposes of the first judicial interrogation of the detained defendant and the application of coercive measures.
According to the statement, the ongoing investigation began following the exchange of information within the Global Drug Intelligence Network, a pilot project funded by the European Union of which the judicial police are part.
