On Tuesday, the Union of Alternative Women and Responsible Women (UMAR) said that protective measures must be taken for victims of dating violence and that the legal system eliminates the aggressor, similar to what happens in the case of domestic violence.
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Equality and Non-Discrimination heard representatives from three civil society associations on the issue of dating violence at the request of the Chega Party, with a representative from UMAR drawing attention to the need for the judiciary to guarantee the protection of these individuals. the victims are usually young, just like adult victims.
“To this end, the legal system that protects minors must be able to implement protections that remove the risk and danger for a young man or woman who faces the problem of dating violence,” defended Ana Leonor Marciano, a lawyer for the organization.
On the other hand, he warned that in the case of date violence, young minors are also the aggressors and that if they are under 16 they are not legally and criminally liable.
