Attack on the Ismaili Center in Lisbon. how did it all happen

Mariana and Farana, 24 and 49 years old.respectively were stabbed to death on Tuesday morning at the Ismaelita Center on Avenida Luciada in Lisbon. The professor of the institution was stabbed in the neck and was taken to Santa Maria Hospital, located near the center, where he was treated.

The attack happened during classes and other events. According to witnesses at the scene, the Afghan man received a phone call, after which he attacked the teacher with a knife.

Prior to the attack, authorities claimed that the attacker was arguing with the two dead. After an argument, 34-year-old Abdul Bashir got into an argument with a Portuguese teacher in the center and stabbed him.

Nizam Mirzada, brother of the Afghan woman who witnessed the attack on the teacher, says there were 16 Afghan students in the class. The reasons for the attack are not yet clear, but Abdu Bashir knocked the teacher to the ground and allegedly drew a knife, hitting the teacher in the chest and neck. The witness urged the Afghan to stop hurting the teacher. Unsuccessfully.

Abdul Bashir shouted for no one to approach him and left the classroom. It was at this time that he attacked Mariana Jadaugi from the Faculty of the Ismaili Community and Farana Sadrudin, who supports the integration of refugees.

The weapon used in this crime was not brought from home, it is not known where it came from Bashir.

Around 11:00 am, the PSP received a report that a knife attack was taking place on the spot. A minute later, the first police officers arrived at the scene. They encountered “a man armed with a large knife” and when the attacker was ordered to stop the attack, the man, in a state that the PSP classifies as furious, disobeyed and moved knife in hand towards the agents.

Faced with the threat, “the police effectively used firearms,” according to the PSP, to neutralize the aggressor. The attacker was rescued and taken to a hospital in San José, also in the capital.

The PSP confirmed that the man was in police custody at the hospital.
