A prison guard at the Hospital-Prisão de Caxias in Oeiras was attacked while breaking up a fight between two prisoners there.
An official source from the Main Directorate of the Penitentiary Service confirmed to the CM that the aggression took place in the late afternoon on Tuesday. “A prisoner admitted to the São João de Deus Prison Hospital, where he is undergoing mental health treatment, attacked a prison guard during an argument with another prisoner,” the same source explained.
The same official said the guard was seen at a government hospital, “without the need for hospitalization.”
As for the aggressor, he “will be subjected to a competent disciplinary process, and the facts will be transferred to the State Ministry for criminal purposes.”
