The BE coordinator this Monday accused the PS of “split personality” in the fight against inflation, since Antonio Costa, as socialist general secretary, advocates price controls and higher wages, which, as prime minister, “refuses” to do.
Catarina Martins spoke to reporters at the end of the boat crossing between Lisbon and Barreiro, referring to António Costa’s statements on Saturday at the closing of the Tendência Sindical Socialista congress, in which he defended that “wage growth also makes the economy.”
“PS Secretary General António Costa said two things are needed to control inflation: price controls and wage increases, and I noted that PS Prime Minister António Costa refuses to control prices and raise wages,” he said.
