The 13-year-old boy is among seven people in the family who had to be hospitalized this morning after a gas leak at a house in Barcelos. The poisoning, which also affected two elderly people aged 76 and 80, was likely due to a gas leak from a stove installed in an apartment in a closed condominium on Rua das Amoras.
Barcelos firefighters were alerted at 02:11 and sent four ambulances and a fire engine to the scene, for a total of 12 firefighters. A VMER from Barcelos Hospital also went to the scene.
The victims, four men and three women aged 13 to 80, had headaches and vomiting. They were taken to the Hospital de Barcelos, with the exception of a minor who was taken to pediatrics at the Hospital de Braga.
