The students accused the teacher of discrimination because not everyone identified as women. The next day, they decided to write on the chalkboard the pronouns they would like to be addressed with. One of the students even said that she identifies herself with the pronoun “They”.
The teacher refused the group’s request and said that she would have to inform the parents about the situation.
After the incident, a protest against the teacher was held in the school foyer.
Later that week, the teacher was disciplined and forced to apologize. “I apologize for being upset. No one here meant to offend you. We all love you,” said the professor of philosophy and religious education.
